October 28, 2008 Problems with the condor

In Donna Bessken’s (2008) article “California condor population update summer 2008,” the author says California condors ‘s population increase on recent year and condors have problems with their lives. According to the article, California condors can fly 100 miles in one day for food. However, eating carrion and losing habitat are creating problems for their breeding and living. Also, recently California wildfires have collapsed condors’ population. Moreover, raising condors and releasing them into the forest has helped wild birds’ population.

Scientists should find effective cures to solve problems with wildfires. Carrion animals create problems and get lead poisoning. Condors play an essential role to maintain an eco system.

First, wildfires are creating lot of problems for forest animals. We can’t easily control wildfires. There are number of condors and animals that lost their house and life. Sometimes, it also creates problems around residents’ area. For example; once wildfires are exposed in Indian forest. Animals and birds lost their lives. The Indian government spent billions of money to prevent wildfires. Now, organizers are serious about wildfires. There are many fire stations and firemen around the forest. So, they can prevent wildfires.

Next, today lead poisoning is the big issue for California condor. California condors always eat carrion. It affects their health and breeding. Carrion animals are more poisonous than live. Condors feed these foods to their chicks. So, it might harmful for their ancestors. For example; according to the article, “leading poisoning as threat to California condor” the author(Ritter, 2008) says carrion animals create problems for California condor.

Finally, as we know, California condors play an essential role to maintaining an eco system. Big predators eat small prey. This cycle helps to sustain an environmental balance and eco system. Condors eat bugs and other small animals. For example; the sun gives energy to trees and plants. Animals, birds and bugs eat plants and trees. Some predators eat small prey. After that animals goes to land. Lack of an eco cycle creates problem for human beings.

In a nutshell, scientists and government can solve wildfire problems. Lead poisoning is affect of condors’ lives. California condors eat bugs and it helps to sustain eco cycle. So, if you want to maintain the eco system, preserve the birds(California condor).
